More MBTI validation for me.

July 1, 2008

So my client is an ESTP. His presenting problem is that when he goes to interview he feels he has no vision of where he wants to be – and that is losing him jobs.

So I read up on ESTP, and i find that his inferior function is ‘Introverted intuition’  – ‘has difficulty forming an internal vision of the future’. Bingo.

The client wwas very negative about his career and his managers. And he was very rational about this negativity; All straight out of the text-book.

  1. This aspect of not looking much to the future could be coming just as much out of ESTP as out of the inferior ’shadow’. SPs tend to be very focused on the immediate present, to the virtual exclusion of both past and future!

For an SP ‘Just busking it’ is often far more fun then learning lessons from the past or plotting a clear path into the future. SPs, particularly ES_Ps are the world’s ‘firefighters’, happiest dealing with a crisis, preferably an entirely unprecedented one! Hence plans and visions for the future are hard work at the best of times, and it doesn’t really need severe stress and a welling up of the inferior to bring about this sort of feeling I suspect.
